Is maritime power equal to maritime hegemony? (2)

(People's Daily Online)

Some people dished the dirt to China's legitimate action of developing, using, protecting and controlling oceans, but turning a deaf ear to China’s efforts in establishing harmonious oceans. They even spread "powerful nation threat theory," "maritime hegemony theory" and other rumors to hinder the development process of China.

The 18th CPC National Congress has solemnly announced that China pursues a defensive national policy and strengthens national defense construction aiming to safeguarding national sovereignty, security and territorial integrity and maintaining national peace and development. Chinese army has always been a staunch force for safeguarding the world peace. It should be stressed that China will always uphold the idea of building a harmonious ocean environment to develop the strategy of maritime power.

The peace-loving people will see that China’s becoming a maritime power will only provide an opportunity to maintain world peace and promote common development, rather than a threat.
