ICBC,The world's largest bank by market value, fell 2.50 percent to 5.08 HK dollars. Bank of Communications, China's fifth biggest lender measured by assets, moved down 3.16 percent to 5.52 HK dollars. Bank of China lost 2.46 percent to 3.17 HK dollars.
As for local developers, Hang Lung Properties fell 2.49 percent to 27.45 HK dollars. Henderson Land, one of the major developers in Hong Kong, went down 3 percent to 53.4 HK dollars. Cheung Kong Holding, a powerful HK-based developer controlled by billionaire Li Ka-shing, lost 2.24 percent to 113.5 HK dollars.
China's top refiner Sinopec went down 1.68 percent to 8.19 HK dollars. PetroChina, the country's largest oil and gas producer, lost 3 percent to 10.36 HK dollars.
Hengan Int'l was the best-performing blue chip in the day, with its shares rising 1.06 percent to 71.85 HK dollars.
