Online vendors also appear to be using information from weigh bills and posting them on their shop page to show they have made many more sales than they actually have.

"Online shop owners can be seen to have made more successful sales by posting fake transactions giving them more credibility," Xu Yong, advisor of the Shanghai-based Express and Logistics Consulting website, told the Global Times.

A director from Shentong told the news portal qq.com that most information gets leaked after the parcels are delivered.

"When you get your parcel, do remember to destroy the weigh bill," he said.
