GEORGETOWN, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) -- Bater, vice chairperson of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), led a delegation to visit Guyana from Tuesday to Wednesday.

During the visit, Bater met with Guyanese President Irfaan Ali, Speaker of the National Assembly Manzoor Nadir and Vice President Bharrat Jagdeo.

Bater said China-Guyana relations, built on mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit, have maintained sound and steady development despite changes in the international landscape.

China stands ready to work with Guyana, guided by the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, to strengthen high-level exchanges, expand economic and trade cooperation, promote people-to-people exchanges and enhance multilateral coordination, so as to continuously bring bilateral relations to new levels, he said.

The CPPCC is willing to play an active role in this regard, Bater said.

The Guyanese side said the two countries share similar development philosophies and broad common interests.

Guyana values the long-standing friendship with China and regards China as a trustworthy partner, the Guyanese side said, expressing willingness to strengthen exchanges on governance, deepen mutual understanding and expand practical cooperation across various fields.

The Guyanese side also warmly welcomed more Chinese investment.
