Five flavors of China's village development (4)
Opportunity: Village livestreaming e-commerce
Location: Honghua village, Bailong town, Jingyang district, Deyang city, southwest China's Sichuan province
On November 11, 2025, the short-video account called "A Red Flower—Secretary Zeng" from Honghua village began its first livestream.
Bamboo shoots, juice-braised beef, and other local specialties racked up 18,000 likes in two hours and generated nearly 1,000 yuan in sales.
"Gaining more visibility online is the first step, but helping our agricultural products reach the market is the real goal," said Wen Min, the village's operations specialist.
"The training has worked very well," said Wen. "On the first day, villagers learn the theory; on the second day, they jump straight into hands-on practice. Some villagers even started selling their own local products right there, earning several hundred yuan before finishing the course."
According to Wen, training programs to help villagers become livestreamers are growing in popularity.
"Being able to draw a crowd and make money, that's the purpose of our village livestream training," Wen Min added. "We hope it can benefit more villagers."
