China's major sports titles in numbers in 2025
BEIJING, Dec. 29 (Xinhua) -- Following are the numbers of major titles (in World Championships and World Cups) won by Chinese athletes in the year of 2025:
146 - Chinese athletes claimed 146 major titles across 31 disciplines.
47 - 47 of the 146 major titles came from Olympic disciplines: speed skating, shooting, BMX freestyle, rowing, canoe sprint, weightlifting, boxing, swimming, diving, artistic swimming, artistic gymnastics, trampoline, rhythmic gymnastics, table tennis, badminton and sport climbing.
17 - Chinese athletes set 17 world records, four in Olympic disciplines.
4,253 - Since the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949, Chinese athletes have won 4,253 major titles and have broken world records 1,442 times. Since the reform and opening up in 1978, Chinese athletes have won 4,229 major titles and broken world records 1,268 times. During the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025), Chinese athletes have won 665 major titles and broken world records 91 times.
