Communications: 5G construction enhances in both quality and quantity

The number of 5G users has exceeded 1 billion. The number of 5G base stations has surpassed 4 million.

In 2024, China has made significant progress in 5G construction within the communications sector. By the end of November, the number of 5G mobile phone users in China has reached just over 1 billion, accounting for 56 percent of all mobile phone users, an increase of 9.4 percentage points compared to the end of the previous year. By the end of November, the total number of 5G base stations has reached 4.19 million, an increase of 815,000 from the previous year.

China has achieved "gigabit connectivity in every city, 5G coverage in every town, and broadband access in every village," continuously upgrading network service capabilities. With more users, broader applications, higher quality networks, and deeper integration into social life, 5G is empowering the digital, networked, and intelligent transformation of the real economy.
