Chengdu Universiade | China wins women's foil team title
CHENGDU, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- China claimed the women's foil team title at the Chengdu Universiade here on Sunday, defeating Italy 45-22 in the final.
Though Italy started the game with four straight points, China made a 5-4 first bout. After hitting a 5-0 second bout, China dominated the event until the end.
"This is an important competition. If you don't play well, you lose. We didn't play as well as we usually can, but China played very well," said Italy coach Francesca Bortolozzi.
"After the individual event, in which we didn't perform well, we set our goal to strive for gold and silver in the team event, and we are so happy we made it," said China's Chen Qingyuan.
In the men's epee team final, France claimed the title after defeating China 45-35.
