BEIJING, April 13 (Xinhua) -- Due to the continuous growth in the number of novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases across the world, it is estimated that Beijing will still face the risk of imported cases in mid to late April, according to a press conference Monday.
Pang Xinghuo, deputy head of the municipal disease control and prevention center, said Beijing had reported a total of 173 imported cases as of Sunday. Meanwhile, the capital had seen no new locally transmitted cases for 20 days in a row.
So far, no confirmed cases have been reported from people who returned to Beijing from Hubei Province including Wuhan since April 8 when a 76-day lockdown on Wuhan was lifted.
Since April 8, nucleic acid tests have been carried out on 1,037 people from Wuhan to Beijing, and the results were all negative.
Pang said Beijing will adopt strict, accurate, classified, orderly and dynamic prevention and control measures. High-risk individuals will undergo nucleic acid testing as well as strict home or collective quarantine.
