BEIJING, April 6 (Xinhua) -- Here are the latest developments on the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in China:

-- China's measures to curb potential import of COVID-19 cases via international flights have proven effective. As of April 5, a total of 112 Beijing-bound international flights were adjusted, with about 25,700 passengers arriving through designated first points of entry, said Han Guangzu, an official with the Civil Aviation Administration of China.

-- Chinese authorities stressed measures to further prevent imported COVID-19 infections through land border. China will support the border regions to step up their lab test and medical treatment capabilities while toughening port management, quarantine inspections and traffic controls in border areas.

-- In the first quarter of this year, China-Europe freight trains made 1,941 trips and transported 174,000 TEUs (20-foot equivalent units) of freight, up 15 percent and 18 percent year on year, respectively, data from the China State Railway Group Co., Ltd. showed.

-- China's internet service and related sectors continued to expand in the first two months of 2020 as strong demands for online working and education products underpinned growth amid the outbreak.

The sectors' total revenue amounted to 131.1 billion yuan (about 18.4 billion U.S. dollars) during the January-February period, up 4.5 percent year on year, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

-- The Jack Ma Foundation and Alibaba Foundation said Monday they will make a second donation of medical supplies to 54 countries in Africa to assist them in the fight against COVID-19.

Further batches of medical supplies, including 500 ventilators, 200,000 sets of protective suits and face shields and 500,000 gloves, will be distributed to the continent with the help of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed of Ethiopia, the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention and World Food Programme after arriving in Ethiopia.

-- Sinopec-SK (Wuhan) Petrochemical Company Limited, a Sino-ROK joint venture, restarted its key ethylene renovation project on Monday in Wuhan. When the construction completes, the company's annual production capacity of ethylene is expected to increase to 1.1 million tonnes from the current 800,000 tonnes.

-- China's resumption of production has been accelerating with the jump of highway freight nationwide, according to a report released by Manbang Group, a leading domestic freight service platform headquartered in Guiyang, capital of southwest China's Guizhou Province.

In March, drivers' activity on the platform increased by 47 percent, and cargo orders jumped 89.5 percent from February.

-- Chinese health authority received reports of 39 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on the Chinese mainland Sunday, of which 38 were imported.

-- Also on Sunday, one death in Hubei Province, and 10 new suspected cases, all imported ones, were reported on the mainland.

-- A total of 114 patients of COVID-19 were discharged from hospitals Sunday on the Chinese mainland.

Altogether 77,078 patients had been discharged from hospitals after recovery by the end of Sunday.

-- As of Sunday, a total of 81,708 confirmed cases of COVID-19 had been reported on the mainland, and 3,331 people had died of the disease.

-- As of Sunday, the mainland had reported a total of 951 imported cases. Of the cases, 258 had been discharged from hospitals after recovery, and 693 were being treated with 22 in severe condition.

-- Also on Sunday, 78 new asymptomatic COVID-19 cases were reported on the mainland, including 40 imported ones. Five asymptomatic cases, all of which were imported ones, were re-categorized as confirmed infections, and 50 were discharged from medical observation including four imported cases.

-- The total number of COVID-19 cases in Taiwan has increased by 10 to 373, the island's epidemic monitoring agency said Monday.

-- No new confirmed cases of COVID-19 were reported Sunday in central China's Hubei Province, despite an increase of 35 asymptomatic COVID-19 patients.
