FAW-Volkswagen’s 20 Millionth Vehicle Goes Offline

(People's Daily Overseas New Media)    10:30, March 31, 2020

On March 30, a new Magotan GTE plug-in hybrid vehicle rolls off the production line at the Changchun base of FAW-Volkswagen, as the enterprise welcomed its 20 millionth vehicle.

As the 20 millionth offline vehicle, the new Magotan GTE has been chosen by FAW-Volkswagen to mark this historical moment. As the leading work of the new Magotan family, the new Magotan GTE meets the racing-class manufacturing standards and it is an important model for FAW-Volkswagen to march into the new energy vehicle era.

At the same time, the offline of the 20 millionth vehicle has undoubtedly given an "adrenaline shot" to China's automotive industry, which has been in a slump for the past years. The coronavirus epidemic at the beginning of this year has impacted the national economy, especially the automotive industry in both the production and the sales. The 20 millionth vehicle not only brought confidence to the entire industry and upstream and downstream partners and also boosted the confidence in China's economic development.

In 2014, FAW-Volkswagen made its first 10 million vehicles with 23 years; from 2015 to 2020, FAW-Volkswagen made its second 10 million vehicles in just five years, securing the premier league of "20 million club" in terms of both output and speed.

In 2019, FAW-Volkswagen's cumulative terminal sales reached 2.13 million (including imported cars), with a year-on-year increase of 3.8%, becoming the first auto company in China to sale 2.1 million vehicles. In 2020, in the time of coronavirus when the automotive market was hit by a sharp decline, FAW-Volkswagen still completed a sale of 217,599 vehicles in January and February, ranking the first in the automotive sales market.
