GENEVA, March 12 (Xinhua) -- The International Ski Federation (FIS) confirmed on Thursday that the remaining four ski jumping World Cup events of the 2019-2020 season will be canceled due to COVID-19 outbreak. The ski flying World championships have been postponed until next season.

The four canceled World Cup competitions are two men's events in Norway and two women's events in Russia, which were all originally scheduled between March 12 and March 20. The FIS noted that the competitions will not be replaced at a later date.

Due to the cancelations of the rest of the competitions, the two overall World Cup champions were crowned earlier than planned. Austria's Stefan Kraft won the men's title, while Norwegian Olympic champion Maren Lundby took her thrid consecutive women's title.

Meanwhile, the FIS Ski Flying World Championships in Planica, Slovenia scheduled to take place on March 19-22 this year have been postponed until the 2020-2021 season, and the new date will be confirmed following discussions with the FIS council and other related parts.

"The health and welfare of the athletes and all other participants, as well as the general public are in the forefront and the priority of all stakeholders," said the FIS.
