WUHAN, March 10 (Xinhua) -- Hubei Province, the epicenter of the novel coronavirus outbreak in China, reported 17 new confirmed cases of novel coronavirus infection and 17 deaths on Monday, the provincial health commission said Tuesday.

All the new infections were in Wuhan, the provincial capital and epicenter of the outbreak.

The latest report brought the total confirmed cases in the hard-hit province to 67,760 and total deaths to 3,024.

Wuhan reported 16 deaths on Monday. In total, the city has registered 49,965 confirmed cases and 2,404 deaths.

The province also saw 1,152 patients discharged from hospital after recovery on Monday, bringing the total number of discharged patients in the province to 47,585.

Among the 14,957 hospitalized patients, 3,855 were still in severe condition and another 846 in critical condition.

The commission also said Hubei had 246 suspected cases after 44 suspected cases were ruled out while 13 new suspected cases were reported on Monday.
