Brussels (People’s Daily) – A French painter named Corine Lescop sent her best wishes to the Chinese people by writing the Chinese character for "spring".

The artist who lives in Brussels, Belgium is fond of the Chinese language and writing. Calligraphy has become a source of inspiration that seeps through her own creations. Lescop now does exhibits in France and Belgium, and exposes calligraphy to a public unfamiliar with this form of expression.

Lescop developed a taste for contemporary Chinese art. Her work has been influenced by Chinese figurative paintings, and she also sometimes adds ideograms purely for aesthetics. In her landscapes, poetic references give life to sceneries.

During an exhibit in Paris at the “Impression” gallery in 2004, Lescop met Chinese artists who, seduced by her work, gave her a unique opportunity: to exhibit in Beijing on the occasion of the French-Chinese year of 2005 in the National Archives of the Forbidden City.

Later, she had the privilege of being featured at the Central Institute of Fine Arts of Beijing and other art institutes throughout China. Her notoriety grows year after year in Chinese artistic circles, where her rare qualities as a calligrapher do not go unnoticed by the current actors of the discipline.
