SHANGHAI, Feb. 26 (Xinhua) -- No foreigners in Shanghai have been diagnosed with the novel coronavirus, and the city will strengthen immigration management to prevent imported cases, local authorities said Wednesday.

Xu Wei, a spokesperson for the Shanghai municipal government, said all people entering China through Shanghai are required to undergo temperature checks and report personal information. Those with abnormal body temperature will be sent to the nearest designated medical institution for screening.

Enterprises, residential communities and hotels of those people are also required to take health management measures, Xu said.

"There were foreigners isolated at home or centralized for medical observation and suspected cases in Shanghai before, but none of them were confirmed with the virus," Xu noted.

Xu also mentioned that at a previous meeting, foreign enterprises said they are willing to cooperate and strengthen anti-epidemic measures and management of foreign employees and their families.

There are more than 200,000 foreigners working in the metropolis, the largest number of foreign employees in China.
