WUHAN, Feb. 11 (Xinhua) -- A medical team from Qilu Hospital in east China's Shandong Province has compiled a Wuhan dialect guidebook for health workers who have come from across China to support the city's fight against the novel coronavirus.

The guidebook, which includes dialect-to-Mandarin translations of common phrases and medical terms, is designed to help medical teams better communicate with Wuhan patients, especially the elderly.

The content has been widely circulated on China's microblogging site Weibo since Monday. Posts under the hashtag "Qilu Hospital compiled a Wuhan dialect guidebook" have been viewed over 58 million times so far.

The most popular user comments include "Bravo, Qilu Hospital!" and "Shandong (medical team) is so cute and considerate!"

Some highlighted phrases in the guidebook include "you're recovering well," "you are beautiful," "don't be afraid" and "we are helping you."

Guo Haipeng, who obtained his doctor's degree in Wuhan and is a member of the Qilu Hospital medical team, worked with his local colleagues on writing the guidebook and recording corresponding audio materials.

China has very diverse dialects and it is common that people cannot understand dialects spoken by people outside their own region.

The National Health Commission on Sunday said a total of 11,921 medical personnel from almost all the provincial-level regions have been dispatched to Hubei to aid the epidemic fight.
