(Xinhua)    10:38, January 08, 2020

LHASA, Jan. 8 (Xinhua) -- A total of 4,058 people have been relocated from extreme high-altitude reserves at over 4,700 meters above sea level, in southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region, according to the third session of the 11th People's Congress of the region Tuesday.

Efforts should also be continued to enhance follow-up support for people relocated from harsh living conditions, said Qizhala, chairman of the regional government.

In 2019, investment to preserve the ecological environment in Tibet rose by over 20 percent last year, said Qizhala.

Around 150,000 people have cast off poverty in 2019 in Tibet, and around 19 counties have been removed from the poverty list.
