Commissioner's office of Chinese foreign ministry in HKSAR condemns unwarranted criticism on Hong Kong police

HONG KONG, Nov. 19 (Xinhua) -- The spokesperson of the Office of the Commissioner of the Chinese Foreign Ministry in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) on Tuesday condemned unwarranted foreign criticism on Hong Kong police.

Recently some politicians and government spokespersons of western countries including the United States and Britain unreasonably criticized Hong Kong police who are working to prevent rioters from occupying a university.

The spokesperson, in a statement, said that such criticism distorted facts, lacked conscience, and helped cover up violent acts.

The black-clad rioters have become the enemy of the whole society in Hong Kong, with their destructive acts ranging from setting a man on fire to paralyzing traffic, among others, the spokesperson said.

However, every time when the HKSAR government and the police are working hard to stop violence and bring the rioters to justice, those western politicians would exert pressure on the HKSAR government and cheered on the rioters, the spokesperson said, adding that those politicians acted against the will of the people, the rule of law and justice.

The spokesperson said that the HKSAR government is now more determined to stop violence with the firm support of the central government, and that the evil scheme of some western politicians to cause chaos in Hong Kong will never succeed.
