VIENTIANE, Nov. 15 -- China and Laos have agreed here to deepen the practical cooperation between the armies of the two countries.
While meeting with a visiting Chinese delegation headed by Chinese State Councilor and Minister of National Defense Wei Fenghe, Lao President and General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Bounnhang Vorachit said his country spoke highly of the great achievements China has made in the past 70 years.
Bounnhang said Laos is grateful to and will forever keep in heart the support and assistance provided by the Communist Party of China, the Chinese government and the Chinese army, and his country will as always stick to the one China policy.
Bounnhang also said Laos and China have enjoyed good momentum in developing the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership and the development of relations between the two armies is at their best in history.
The LPRP and the Lao government fully support the exchange and cooperation between the two armies at all levels and in all fields to bring them to a deeper and more pragmatic level, and are willing to continue strengthening the unity and friendship between the two countries.
For his part, Wei said that China and Laos are a community with a shared future sharing weal and woe. Under the guidance of the leaders of the two countries, the relations between the two countries and the two armies have been developing in a healthy and stable manner, with fruitful exchange and cooperation in all fields.
Expressing gratitude to the firm support Laos has given to China regarding China's core interests, Wei said the Chinese army is willing to work with the Lao side to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two parties and the two countries, to strengthen strategic communication, deepen pragmatic cooperation, and enhance multilateral coordination so as to make greater contribution to the development of the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries.
On Wednesday afternoon, Wei held talks with Lao Defense Minister Chansamone Chanyalath.
Wei Fenghe arrived in Laos on Wednesday for an official good-will visit.
