Major Chinese rail port sees significant trade growth in first three quarters

CHENGDU, Oct. 31 (Xinhua) -- The trade volume of Chengdu International Railway Port in southwest China's Sichuan Province surpassed 7 billion yuan (about 994.2 million U.S. dollars) in the first three quarters of the year, up 386 percent year on year.

From January to September, the container throughput at the port totaled 4.65 million, ranking first among China's inland ports.

So far, the number of cargo trains running between the port and ASEAN countries saw a year-on-year increase of 106.7 percent, with a total cargo volume of 352,000 tonnes, worth 200 million U.S. dollars.

Located in Qingbaijiang District of Chengdu, the port serves as an important hub for China-Europe freight trains.
