2nd CIIE shows China's willingness, commitment to opening up: Thai deputy PM

BANGKOK, Oct. 29 (Xinhua) -- The upcoming second China International Import Expo (CIIE) will provide an excellent platform and opportunity to other countries to showcase their products and the event also shows China's willingness and commitment to opening up, Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Commerce Minister Jurin Laksanawisit said on Monday.

Jurin told Xinhua on the sidelines of a forum celebrating the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China in Bangkok that he will lead Thailand's second CIIE participation in Shanghai next month.

China now is Thailand's largest trade partner, and Thailand is also one of China's most important trade partners in Southeast Asia.

Jurin said the second CIIE will be a very important platform and an excellent opportunity for more Thai products to enter the burgeoning Chinese market.

The second CIIE, slated to take place from Nov. 5 to 10, has attracted more than 3,000 companies from over 150 countries and regions to sign up.

Thailand will showcase its local characteristic food like dried mangoes and dried durians, and other light industrial products, the deputy PM added.

Chinese Ambassador to Thailand Lyu Jian also told the forum that China and Thailand have the confidence, determination and capability to deepen the pragmatic cooperation between two countries, and to improve the quality of the joint cooperation on economic and trade area, so as to bring more benefits to the two peoples.
