BEIJING, Oct. 2 -- China's commitment to peaceful development was heard by the world and underpinned at the recent Beijing Xiangshan Forum, an annual gathering of defense authorities, representatives and scholars from international organizations.
In a congratulatory letter to the forum, President Xi Jinping has said China is committed to advancing cooperation through dialogue, promoting peace through cooperation, and safeguarding development through peace.
When global security is clouded by rising uncertainty, China injects a shot of certainty featuring peace, stability and cooperation, which is also in alignment with its vision of building a community with a shared future for humanity.
To fulfill its pledge, China has been faithfully advancing global peacekeeping goals with its practical efforts and plans, including the responsible participation in peacekeeping missions and the provision of peacekeeping funding, personnel and assistance.
In the letter, Xi called on countries in the Asia-Pacific region to stick together and uphold the UN-centered international system, in the face of complicated security threats.
It illustrated China's inspiring idea of maintaining global security based on inclusiveness, mutual respect, constructive dialogue, negotiation and international cooperation. In light of the rising challenges from unilateralism and various security threats, China's steadfast position to promote world peace under the multilateral framework is of particular significance.
Xi also urged countries in the Asia-Pacific region to improve the new type of security partnership, build a security architecture fitting the regional reality and more effectively promote enduring peace and common security in the Asia-Pacific region.
The letter envisions a pragmatic way to manage differences and solve disputes among different nations. Rather than a "solo" or "monologue," China has been actively contributing to the "symphony" of global security, which is an important part of building a community with a shared future for humanity.
