Chinese manufacturers seek business opportunities in LatAm at industrial goods fair

MEXICO CITY, Oct. 22 -- From drive chains for motorcycles to sophisticated engines, Chinese industrial products are increasingly expanding their presence in Latin America, sector insiders have said.

At a recent industrial goods fair held in the Mexican city of Leon, many Chinese industrial manufacturers expressed their full confidence in business growth in Latin America.

As Chinese industrial products are good value for money, now they have easier access to Latin American value chains, said SFR Chain Group's Sales and Marketing Director Julio Herrera at the 2019 Hannover Messe Industrial Fair in Leon earlier this month, the first time for the event held in Latin America.

"In Mexico and in Latin America, in general, they are being more receptible, especially because of the prices," said Herrera.

SFR Chain Group, founded in 1991 in Hangzhou City in eastern China's province of Zhejiang, dedicates to the production of chains for motorcycles, machinery, transport and agricultural processes, and has a presence in more than 80 countries.

The company participated for the first time in the industrial components fair, and during the first day, its salesmen have already spoken to 15 potential clients, Herrera added.

"In the case of my company, more than to attract clients, what we are looking for is brand development and to find special market niches among big distributors," Herrera said.

Sheng Zhao, sales director of Taizhou Dongye Electric Motor Company, also said that Mexico represents a great market opportunity for Chinese products as specialized as the worm gear reducer.

Taizhou Dongye Electric Motor, one of China's earliest export-oriented manufacturing enterprises, has been seeking to expand its customer base to the big industry players, given that they already have some small customers, Sheng said.

"I think that Mexico has a very wide market ... It's a great opportunity," he said.

Chinese companies such as Hangzhou Yuhuang Transmission Equipment and Changzhou Ketten Transmission also participated in the Mexican edition of the Hannover Messe Industrial Fair to seek business opportunities.
