China's national image better among developing countries: survey

BEIJING, Oct. 18 -- A global survey, published Friday, showed that China's national image continued to improve among developing countries.

China's overall image scored 7.1 out of 10 among developing countries, 0.2 points higher than the previous survey for 2016-2017, according to the survey report.

A total of 11,000 people from 22 countries including China, 500 respondents each, attended the survey conducted by the Academy of Contemporary China and World Studies and Kantar from May to July in 2018. They were aged between 18 and 65.

Among 21 foreign countries, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Chile, Russia and Indonesia had the best impression of China, the report said, adding that developing countries outnumbered developed countries for improved impressions of China.

The average score among participating countries remained the same 6.22 as the previous two surveys in 2015 and 2016-2017.

In terms of its contribution to global governance, China achieved 6.4 out of 10 and 6.3 for its performance in domestic affairs, up 0.1 points. Developing countries also had more positive impression in these two regards, giving both 7.2 scores.

The survey also found that in the two regards the younger the overseas respondents, the higher the scores.
