(Xinhua)    12:52, October 08, 2019

BEIJING, Oct. 8 -- Chinese mainland remained as the largest origin of tourists to the Asia-Pacific region, a report released by the payment company Mastercard showed.

Tourists from Chinese mainland formed the biggest group of customers of the top five tourist destinations in the Asia-Pacific region, including Bangkok, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Tokyo and Seoul, the report said.

Chinese mainland ranked top three in exporting tourists to 82 destinations in this region, accounting for over half of the 161 destinations surveyed.

The number of outbound tourists from Chinese mainland surpassed that of other countries at 13 out of 20 tourism hotbeds in the region, the report added.

Overtaking Japan in 2012, Chinese mainland has remained as the biggest origin of tourists to the region for years.

The report also showed the steady growth of China's inbound tourism, with 41 Chinese cities ranking on the list of the 161 surveyed tourism hotspots in this region.
