BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Aug. 21 -- Knowledge and experience gained from studying in China could help Brunei students pursue a more promising career in the future, Chinese Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Yu Hong said on the sidelines of the awarding ceremony of Chinese government scholarship to seven Brunei students.
Chinese universities are open to international students, offering courses that are not only in Chinese but also in English, she said.
"The universities have two different language streams but it will be more valuable for international students to study the Chinese language to understand China and communicate better while studying," she told Xinhua on Tuesday.
More and more students choose to study in China because of its culture, language and now increasingly because of technology advancements in China either in information technology or agriculture or other fields. China is offering higher quality education to students, she added.
China has a long and splendid history over 5,000 years, vast land and beautiful scenery, said Yu, adding that one will find that China has both ancient civilization and a modern style. Brunei students can experience a colorful and vibrant life there, she said.
She said China and Brunei are good neighbors sharing a long history of exchanges and traditional friendship, and the China-Brunei relations have developed rapidly to a new height.
Currently there are nearly 3,000 universities in China, which have formed a high-quality and comprehensive disciplined education system and produced a number of landmark achievements with international influence.
