BEIJING, Aug. 9 -- Du Zhaocai, deputy minister of China's State General Administration of Sport, was appointed as the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Referees Committee chairman, said the Chinese Football Association here on Friday.
Du, who was also elected the member of FIFA council in April, received appointment letter earlier on Friday, will serve as the Committee chairman for the next four years lasting to 2023, which is the same as his service term in FIFA council.
Du is the second CFA member to take charge of the important committee of the AFC, after Zhang Jilong, the former AFC senior vice president, who retired from the Asian football governing body in 2016.
The AFC Referees Committee will hold meetings in Qingdao, China on October 15 this year.
