ISTANBUL, July 9 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese consulate general in Istanbul advised on Tuesday the Chinese citizens to exercise caution over their personal and property safety, after a Chinese woman was murdered overnight in the Turkish city.
In a notice posted on its website and social media account, the Chinese mission cited Turkish press reports as saying that a Chinese woman was murdered lately at home in Istanbul, noting the consulate general is following the case closely and has called on the Turkish police to step up efforts to crack it.
"This mission once again warns Chinese citizens in this consular district about their personal and property safety," the notice said, advising Chinese nationals to report to local police and make contact with the consulate general in the first place in any emergencies.
According to Turkish media reports, the Chinese woman, 42, was slit in the throat on Monday evening in an apartment in the Fatih district, and her house was set on fire thereafter.
