BEIJING, July 1 (Xinhua) -- A total of 36 world-class plays, musicals, operas and documentaries will be screened in cinemas across China in the second half of 2019, according to a theatre live-broadcast project.
The screening list includes "The Lehman Trilogy," "The Merry Wives of Windsor," "The King and I" and "Sleeping Beauty," said project director Li Congzhou.
The National Theatre Live (NT Live) in China is a project initiated by the National Theatre of China in 2015 to introduce high-definition documentaries from the British Royal National Theatre to give the audience a unique live theater experience.
Over the years, the project has expanded to include works of other top British theatres, as well as those in the United States, Russia and France. Altogether, 113 productions have been screened in 29 cities across China over 4,200 times, drawing around 400,000 viewers.
