BEIJING, June 18 (Xinhua) -- The adoption of multiple new technologies will power the Beijing Daxing International Airport, making it smarter and more efficient, according to China's civil aviation authorities.
The comprehensive application of smart new technologies such as self check-in, self baggage check-in, and facial recognition in security checks will greatly contribute to making the new airport a smart one, according to the Civil Aviation Administration of China.
Dozens of systems have been implemented in the new airport. It is expected that the self check-in facilities will serve around 86 percent of its passengers, and the self baggage check-in will extend to around 76 percent.
Besides, all security access to the new airport will adopt facial recognition. This means that the airport could realize a paperless self-service airport experience during the whole process from check-in and security checks to boarding.
The new airport will comprehensively use radio frequency identification devices in baggage tracking.
Beijing Daxing International Airport, Beijing's second major civil airport, will start operation this September.
