Senior Chinese legislator visits Bangladesh to boost ties

DHAKA, June 17 (Xinhua) -- Ji Bingxuan, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China, met with Bangladesh Parliament Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury and Deputy Speaker Fazle Rabbi Miah respectively here and discussed bilateral relationship and cooperation.

Ji, leading a Chinese delegation to visit Bangladesh from June 15 to 17, also attended the inaugural ceremony of the China-Bangladesh Friends of Silk Road Club and the Silk Road Community Building Initiative-Bangladesh chapter.

Ji said that China attaches great importance to China-Bangladesh relations and regards Bangladesh as an important partner in South Asia and the Indian Ocean region. China is willing to work with the Bangladeshi side to implement the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, deepen cooperation within the framework of China's Belt and Road Initiative, strengthen exchanges between the two legislatures and two peoples, consolidate the public opinion base of bilateral relations, and promote the strategic partnership of cooperation between the two countries to a higher level.

The Bangladeshi side spoke highly of the bilateral relations and cooperation under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, and expressed its willingness to further strengthen pragmatic cooperation with China in various fields, increase close exchanges between the two legislatures, enhance the traditional friendship and better serve the peoples of the two countries.
