
CHENGDU, June 12 (Xinhua) -- The China-EU Regional Economy Cooperation Platform was launched in the southwest Chinese city of Chengdu on Tuesday, aiming to deepen cooperation between the two sides.
Philippe Vialatte, Minister Counsellor, head of the Science, Technology and Environment Section of the EU Delegation to China, said China made rapid progress in technological innovation and research and development in recent years, and the EU hopes to pay close attention to sustainable urban development with China, especially Sichuan Province and its capital city of Chengdu.
Co-founded by the Chengdu Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone and the International Urban Cooperation of the EU, the platform will further promote projects of international urban cooperation between China and the EU, carry out research on economic cooperation policy, hold high-level economic forums and facilitate the implementation of specific projects in Sichuan.
Government and institutes representatives from Germany, Italy and Spain attended the launching ceremony.
