BEIJING, June 12 (Xinhua) -- A Chinese mainland spokesperson Wednesday urged the United States to stop sending wrong signals to "Taiwan independence" separatist forces.
An Fengshan, a spokesperson with the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, made the comment at a press conference in response to the fact that someone in the U.S. Senate proposed asking the island's leader Tsai Ing-wen to deliver a speech at the U.S. Congress.
An said that the repeated irresponsible remarks by some people from the U.S. side have severely violated the one-China principle and the three China-U.S. joint communiques and the Chinese side firmly opposes them.
An also warned Taiwan's Democratic Progressive Party administration that any attempt to rely on foreigners to build oneself up and undermine cross-Strait relations is doomed to fail, and one will certainly pay a price for such deeds.
