BEIJING, May 8 (Xinhua) -- China on Wednesday expressed firm opposition to any attempted foreign interference in Hong Kong's affairs, regarding a recent U.S. report on an amendment bill of China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR).
The remarks came as Foreign Ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang commented on the report, released by the U.S. congressional institution, which said the Fugitive Offenders Ordinance amendment bill would increase the HKSAR's susceptibility to the political coercion of the central government.
"Hong Kong is China's special administrative region and its affairs are entirely China's internal affairs," said Geng. "We firmly oppose any attempted foreign interference in Hong Kong's affairs."
