The top leadership of the Communist Party of China reaffirmed the authority and unified, centralized leadership of the CPC Central Committee at a key Party meeting on Monday.
Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, presided over the daylong meeting.
During the meeting, the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee heard reports from Party organizations of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, the State Council, the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, the Supreme People's Court and Supreme People's Procuratorate as well as a report from the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee.
Xi delivered an important speech at the meeting.
The year marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and a crucial year for securing the decisive victory in building a moderately prosperous society in all respects, said a statement issued after the meeting.
The nation is facing a complex and grave international situation as well as the arduous task of advancing reform, enhancing development and maintaining stability, the statement said.
Party organizations of the Standing Committee of the NPC, the State Council, the National Committee of the CPPCC, the SPC and SPP are urged to keep in line with the CPC Central Committee with Xi at the core, seriously fulfill their duties in full and strict governance of the Party and earnestly honor their responsibilities, the statement said.
They are also urged to set an example in following Party regulations against undesirable work styles, tighten up political disciplines and improve internal management, the statement said.
Noting that the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee fully played its role in the past year, the meeting urged the secretariat to set an example in safeguarding the authority and central and unified leadership of the CPC Central Committee, the statement said.
