MADRID, Nov. 27 (Xinhua) -- Madrid's National Auditorium on Tuesday night held a concert on the Belt and Road (B&R) with the aim of strengthening cultural dialogues between Spain and China.
The concert, entitled "Belt and Road," included performances of both Chinese and Spanish artists.
The Andres Segovia Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Pablo Mielgo, performed the music. Chinese soprano Bing Bing Wang, mezzo-soprano Huiling Zhu and tenor Warren Mok also joined the concert, performing a selection of traditional Chinese songs and works by Mozart, Puccini, Bizet and Verdi, along with Spanish soprano Alicia Amor.
The International Press Club said in a press communique that these pieces looked "to strengthen the dialogue and understanding between people and to promote cultural exchange between two countries (China and Spain) through music."
"We want to provoke people to think more deeply about the meeting between different civilizations in order to help us reach harmony and understanding and to move away from words which talk of exclusion and barriers," said the not-for-profit ONUART Foundation, which organized the event with the Chinese Public Diplomacy &Culture Exchange Center.
This year marks the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Spain. China is now Spain's largest trading partner outside the European Union (EU), while Spain is the sixth biggest trading partner of China within the EU.
