First CIIE concludes with deals worth $57.83 billion

The first China International Import Expo (CIIE) concluded on Saturday in Shanghai with sizable deals signed and far-reaching influence. 

The expo was themed "New Era, Shared Future." Opeining from Nov. 5 to 10, it attracted 172 countries, regions and international organizations, as well as more than 3,600 enterprises to showcase their products and services.

More than 400,000 buyers from home and abroad were present at the expo for business negotiations and purchase. The expo has a total exhibition area of 300,000 square meters.

By the noon of Nov. 10, about 800,000 people have visited the CIIE exhibition area. Deals for intended purchase of goods and services within a year totaled $57.83 billion.

Deals for high-end intelligent equipment reached over $16.46 billion, followed by $12.68 billion of food and agricultural products, $11.99 billion of automobiles, $5.76 billion of medical equipment and health care products, $4.33 billion of consumer electronics and appliances, $3.37 billion of apparel, accessories and consumer goods, and $ 3.24 billion of deals for services.

The CIIE, attended by a large number of guests, is a high-level expo that bears extensive significance at home and abroad and produces fruitful outcomes, said Sun Chenghai, deputy director of the CIIE Bureau.

The large-scale and high-level expo has produced fruitful economic and trade results. The Hongqiao International Trade Forum held during the CIIE has become a high-level platform to discuss global economic and trade issues. The Hongqiao International Business Media and Think Tank Forum was also held during the CIIE.

The registration work of the second CIIE has just begun. The second CIIE will have basically the same scale, duration, range of exhibits and exhibition fees as the first one, Sun said.
