BMW recalls over 3,900 defective cars in China

(Xinhua)    12:00, October 28, 2018

BEIJING, Oct. 27 -- German auto maker BMW has decided to recall more than 3,900 cars in China due to defects in crankshaft position sensors, according to the Chinese market regulator.

BMW China Automotive Trading Ltd. began on Tuesday recalling 3,939 imported vehicles manufactured between April 10 and June 13, according to a statement from the State Administration for Market Regulation.

The recall involves BMW 1- to 7-series as well as the MINI Cooper series, the statement said.

Wrong output signals sent by the defective sensors might cause the engines to stall, it said.

The company will inform related users with registered letters and replace the defective sensors free of charge, it said.
