BEIJING, Oct. 6 (Xinhua) -- Chinese legal experts called for strengthened theoretical studies of law to serve the overall work of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the state.

At a forum held by the China Law Society (CLS), Wang Lequan, director of the CLS, said the studies should focus more on solving problems, meeting the needs of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects and drawing new experiences from the country's reform and development practices.

He also called for efforts to provide expertise and theoretical support for the system of socialist rule of law with Chinese characteristics and the building of a country with a socialist rule of law.

Also at the event, Chen Yixin, secretary-general of the Commission for Political and Legal Affairs of the CPC Central Committee, required the CLS to give full play to its role as a pioneer in legal study innovations, a brainpower in advancing law-based governance in all fields, an "incubator" in fostering high-caliber legal professionals and a platform serving the public.

The CLS deputy director Chen Jiping urged better legal services by the organization as well as greater efforts in solving disputes and promoting rule of law awareness.
