VANCOUVER, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) -- The documentary film "Searching for the Lotus-Born Master" swept awards in the documentary category at the Canada Golden Maple Film Festival (CGMLFF) in Vancouver.

At the festival's closing ceremony held in Vancouver's River Rock Theater last Sunday, film director Laurence Brahm received the "Best Documentary Film Director" award, together with the "Best Documentary Photography Award," for the unprecedented cinematography presented in the film.

In 2018, Brahm led documentary expedition teams in an unprecedented trip to follow the historic journey of the Lotus-Born Master Padmasambhava, a legendary figure of the 8th century who helped the construction of China's Tibetan Buddhism.

Throughout the journey, the expedition team interviewed technology innovators, using some of the cutting edge ideas that scientists in the field of quantum physics are studying today.

The expedition teams traveled cross four countries over 20,000 km, filming in some of the most extreme climates and places of the Himalayas.

The film was co-produced by William Lo, with support from David Lee, Sherry Pan and a research team of more than 30 people.

At a press conference held during the Canada Golden Maple Film Festival, Brahm and Lo said that their next film "Return of the Lotus-Born Master" is scheduled to begin in March 2019.
