SHENZHEN, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) -- A container ship loaded with multi-functional mobile medical units from the Red Cross Society of China departed from a port in Shenzhen on Friday to provide humanitarian assistance to Iraq.

The units include two medical buses, two ambulances and two extendable tents, which are equipped with medical treatment tanks, integrated first aid kits, x-ray equipment, ECG machines and defibrillator monitors.

This is the first time that the Red Cross Society of China has donated humanitarian aid equipment to Iraq.

A Chinese medical expert team will be sent to train local medical workers in Iraq next month, when the equipment will arrive after its 35-day voyage at sea, said Sun Shuopeng from the organization, adding that it will continue to provide assistance to meet the humanitarian needs of Iraq.
