A 26-year-old male from China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region was injured after detonating a "firecracker-like device" in Chaoyang District around 1:00 p.m. BJT, Beijing police said on Thursday.

No others were injured in the explosion, according to the police.

The incident has been promptly and properly taken care of by police, said Geng Shuang, the spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, who called it "an individual public security case".
