A court in northwest China's Gansu Province has announced its decision to sentence serial killer Gao Chengyong to death for robbery, rape, murder and corpse abuse.

Gao confessed at the people's intermediate court of Baiyin City and said he would not file an appeal.

Dubbed the Chinese "Jack the Ripper," Gao killed 10 women and one girl between 1988 and 2012. Many of his victims were wearing red when their mutilated bodies were found.

Gao raped the victims before killing them and dismembering their bodies.

Gao committed the crimes in Baiyin, Gansu Province and Baotou, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

Gao was arrested in August 2016. He confessed to all 11 murders during his trial last July.
