BEIJING, Nov. 17 (Xinhua) -- China and Morocco agreed to deepen their strategic partnership as State Councilor Yang Jiechi met with Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Nasser Bourita Friday in Beijing.

During their talks, Yang, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, said the 19th CPC National Congress has set the country on a "new journey" toward a modern socialist country.

China is committed to building a new type of international relations and a community with a shared future for mankind, he said.

He called on both sides to implement the consensus reached by Chinese President Xi Jinping and King Mohammed VI and upgrade bilateral cooperation through joint construction of the Belt and Road.

Bourita, who is on his first visit to China since taking office, extended King Mohammed VI's congratulations on the success of the 19th CPC National Congress.

He said Morocco pays great attention to ties with China and will work with China to beef up their strategic partnership.
