Shanghai's maglev train service is the world's first maglev line to offer an e-ticketing service through smartphones, Shanghai Metro announced on Oct. 30.

The company said passengers can ride the maglev train by scanning a QR code on Alipay, China's leading third-party online payment solution, without delay. Fares are automatically deducted from the passenger's account when the passenger exits by rescanning the code.

Passengers said they welcome the service, which will be offered at all of Shanghai's railway lines in early 2018.
