MOSCOW, Sept. 21 (Xinhua) -- China will maintain close contact with parties related to the Syrian conflict, work for peace talks and contribute to a political settlement, said a Chinese envoy here Thursday.
China will also continue to provide aid to Syrian refugees in and around Syria, said visiting Chinese Special Envoy on the Syrian Issue Xie Xiaoyan.
During his trip to Moscow, Xie met with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov and exchanged views on Middle East issues.
Xie hoped that Syrian peace talks will maintain momentum. He said all parties should stick to a political settlement and the international community should influence the Syrian government and the opposition to make decisions through negotiations.
