China ranks 59th among 131 countries in terms of health modernization, according to a report released on Saturday.
He Chuanqi, head of the China Center for Modernization Research of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, suggested a road map for China's health development in five areas: systems, daily life, service, environment and treatment.
According to the report, based on data from 2014 and earlier, 25 countries are considered "developed" in health, including Sweden; 22 countries "moderately developed" in health, including Russia; 33 countries are "primarily developed" in health, such as China; and 51 countries "under-developed" in health, including Kenya.
In 2016, the State Council, China's cabinet, issued a guideline on building a healthy China.
