KUNMING, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) -- Seven people have died and over 500 have been evacuated after heavy rain caused landslides in southwest China's Yunnan Province, the local government said Wednesday.

Rain hit most parts of the mountainous province over the past weekend. As of 9 a.m. Wednesday, 155,000 people have reported damage to property. Nearly 100 houses had collapsed and 700 hectares of farmland were destroyed.
