Chinese President Xi Jinping is holding a press conference to introduce the outcomes of the three-day BRICS Summit that concludes in Xiamen, southeastern China on Tuesday.
Xi said the summit has been fruitful as leaders reached consensus on various issues.
Leaders agreed to strengthen efforts to achieve the 2030 sustainable development goals (SDGs), he said.
The emerging-market bloc of BRICS, which groups Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa together, issued a joint Xiamen Declaration after a leaders' plenary session on Monday, pledging to play active roles in economic growth, international cooperation and global governance.
The 9th BRICS Summit, under the theme of “BRICS: Stronger Partnership for a Brighter Future”, was held in Xiamen from September 3 to 5 under China’s chairmanship.
Leaders of Egypt, Guinea, Mexico, Tajikistan and Thailand also joined in the Dialogue of Emerging Market and Developing Countries, promoting expanded cooperation among developing countries.
