Chinese President Xi Jinping on Tuesday delivered a speech at the Dialogue of Emerging Market and Developing Countries at Xiamen International Conference and Exhibition Center, promoting expanded cooperation among developing countries.
BRICS has the tradition of attaching importance to communication with other emerging markets and developing countries. China, this year, invited five other countries from different regions – Egypt, Guinea, Mexico, Tajikistan and Thailand.
Xi said he is confident that the expanded dialogue "will strengthen the solidarity and cooperation among emerging markets and developing countries, and also contribute to the building of BRICS mechanism."

It was the first time that leaders of the five BRICS countries meet with their counterparts from five other developing countries to discuss global development cooperation and South-South cooperation, as China proposed the model of "BRICS Plus."
Xi said the emerging markets and developing countries have contributed more to global economic growth than others, accounting for 80 percent of global growth in 2016, becoming the primary engine of the world economy.
Addressing the leaders, Xi has called on the emerging markets and developing countries to seize the opportunity arising from the adjustment of world economic structure.
He also called for efforts to enhance the representation and voice of emerging markets and developing countries in the global economic governance.
"We need to promote greater representation and voice of emerging markets and developing countries in global economic governance, and foster an international economic order that is fairer and more equitable," Xi said.
During his speech, Xi announced that China will provide 500 million US dollars for South-South cooperation. "The money will be used to help fellow developing countries tackle famine, refugee, climate change, public health and other challenges," he said.
China will also provide other developing countries with 40,000 training opportunities in China in the coming year.
